RESOURCES
FRENCH ORGANISTS TO PERFORM AS PART OF CHAPEL ARTIST SERIES
Description:

French organists Sylvie Mallet and Marie-Louise Langlais will perform as part of the 2012-13 Holy Cross Chapel Artists Series. The performance is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible.

Their program will include music compositions by Racquet, Grigny, Frescobaldi, J. S. Bach, Tournemire, and Langlais.

Mallet is a professor of organ at the Paris (CRR) Conservatory.  From 1993-2004, she was the organist of the choir organ at the Basilica of Sainte-Clotilde in Paris. She has performed and recorded as both a pianist and organist and has made several recordings of the music of the acclaimed blind French organist-composer Jean Langlais.  She is making her United States concert debut in October and November of this year.

Langlais, Jean’s widow, is professor emerita of organ at the Paris (CRR) Conservatory; and is currently the visiting professor of organ at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. She is regarded as one of France’s most distinguished teachers, musicologists and performers.  She holds a doctorate in musicology from the Sorbonne, Paris.  She has recorded extensively and has performed around the world.
