Edith Stein (Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross) was a German-Jewish philosopher who converted to Catholicism, became a Carmelite nun, and was killed in a gas-chamber at Auschwitz. Her writings on the nature and vocation of woman form the basis for a distinctly Christian account of sex difference. This lecture will provide an overview of Edith’s thought on woman, and will draw out some of the implications of her thought.

Prof. Katherine Pakaluk (PhD Harvard University) is Professor of Social Research and Economics at the Busch School of Business, Catholic University.
