“Fuente Ovejuna” is a classical 17th-century Spanish drama by Lope by Vega about a small village terrorized by a dictatorial oppressor.  Spurred on by the women who refuse to suffer any longer, the villagers rise up and exact revenge upon their tormentor.  The Fenwick Theatre production is set during the 1930s in the midst of the Spanish Civil War and uses the music and dance of that period to tell a tale of oppression, resistance and retribution.  Directed by Edward Isser.
