Laura van den Berg’s most recent novel, The Third Hotel, was an ABA IndieNext Pick, a Powell’s Books Indiespensable Pick, and an Amazon Best Book of August. She is also the author of the novel Find M and the story collections What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us and The Isle of Youth; both books were finalists for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award. Her honors include the Bard Fiction Prize, the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Pushcart Prize, an O. Henry Award,  fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, and the Jeannette Haien Ballard Writer’s Prize, an annual prize given to “a young writer of proven excellence in poetry or prose.” Laura’s short fiction has recently appeared in Ploughshares, BOMB, Conjunctions, Freeman’s, Mcsweeney's, and The Best American Short Stories. She currently lives in Cambridge, MA, where she is a Briggs-Copeland Lecturer in Fiction at Harvard. Her next collection of stories, Aftermath, is forthcoming from FSG.
