Songs of Innocence and Experience:
Autistic Writers of Holy Cross

In the fast-paced, challenging, and intensive culture of academic life, difference can often be viewed as shameful or disadvantageous. While universities have made great strides in promoting ethnic, cultural, and gender diversity, the same cannot be said for neurodiversity, or the idea that neurological differences, like autism, are not pathological but normal variations within the human experience. In order to increase awareness and promote self-advocacy, current student Clara Joy Gibson and alum Terrence Smith, both autistic writers, will be sharing their writing, experiences, and observations about being autistic at home, at school, and in society.
